The 5th Bremen Winter School and Symposium will run this year from 27-31 March, and will be hosted in the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bremen, room MZH 6210. The Winter School and Symposium is mainly sponsored by the Collaborative Research Centre TRR 181 "Energy Transfer in Atmosphere and Ocean" funded by DFG. The school will offer a range of courses to interested individuals. The mini courses available are:
- Local bifurcations and reduction methods in reversible systems. Application to water-wave models - Mariana Haragus (Université de Franche-Comté, Besancon, France)
- Rotating convection - Edgar Knobloch (University of California Berkeley, USA)
- Hamiltonian dynamics and fluid motions - Lev Lerman (Lobachevsky University of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia)
There is also a plenary course available:
- Weak vs strong solvability of problems in fluid mechanics - Eduard Feireisl (Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic).
The registration fee for the school is €75 per participant up until 15 February 2017. After this date, registration will be €100. Participants, and in particular students, are encouraged to present a poster at the poster session.
