The ICES Annual Science Conference 2016 brings the international marine science community together to share innovative science. Scientists, policy- and decision-makers, students, and stakeholders are all invited to join the discussions on science for sustainable seas. One of the important and unique features of ICES is its capacity to cover the entire spectrum from monitoring to data provision to science and advice.

The AMEMR (Advances in Marine Ecosystem Modelling Research) Conference provides an opportunity to present, discuss and learn about a wide variety of marine modelling challenges, methods, applications and outcomes.

AMEMR has a strong focus on promoting interdisciplinary discussion among scientists and students with different backgrounds and expertise (from modelling to experimental to observational scientists) who want to contribute to the conceptualisation, design, development and application of improved and new marine ecosystem models.

The International Association for Sediment Water Science (IASWS), bringing together a wide range of researchers from different disciplines, seeks to promote, encourage and recognize excellence in scientific research related to sediments and their interactions with water and biota in fluvial, lacustrine and marine systems and with particular reference to problems of environmental concern. This symposium provide a forum for interdisciplinary discussions with the aim of better integrating knowledge of the biological, physical and chemical processes between sediments and water.

The NET-SCARCE International Conference will be held on 15-16 November 2016 in Barcelona (Spain). This conference is part of the project NET-SCARCE, which in turn is the follow-up to the project SCARCE (Assessing and predicting effects on water quantity and quality in Iberian rivers caused by global change). 

This conference will highlight state-of-the-art knowledge, solutions and prospects to enlarge the scientific basis for an ecosystem-based management of the North Sea. Two main pillars with associated themes will structure the content of the conference:

CommOCEAN as the International Marine Science Communication Conference, was launched by the European Marine Board Communications Panel (EMBCP) and organized in the first instance by its Portuguese partners (CIIMAR, Ciencia Viva) in Porto in 2014. It focuses on a target audience of young marine scientists and communicators who want to be trained in science communication skills. By using examples from ocean science, the Bruges-Ostend CommOCEAN event is a unique opportunity to make a major leap forward in communicating your ocean knowledge.

The MaCuMBA symposium will focus on the biotechnical application of marine microbes and will involve a joint industry conference and open science meeting. The conference - ‘The Marine Microbiome - Discovery & Innovation’ - will bring the industrial and scientific worlds together.

The event is to be held in October 2015 at the International EXPO in Milan, Italy. The aim of the event is to address the sustainable supply of food, including sustainable resources from the oceans, by gathering existing information in terms of international research and opportunities for the exploitation of new marine resource.

The 8th European Conference on Ecological Modelling to be held in October 2014 will host keynote talks on the aspects, methodologies and applications of the ecological modelling field. Over 200 contributors will investigate the capacity to assess, model and predict ecological responses to multiple forcing, including human activity and climatic changes, and will work towards integrating African science into this area.

The European Ecosystem Services 2016 conference theme 'Helping nature to help us' focuses on the important role that healthy ecosystems play in supporting human well-being and the protection of nature.

This conference will be the biggest European event in 2016 that links science, policy and practice on ecosystem services and natural capital. It will have a strong focus on practice and implementation.
