Joint Call: Impacts of Deep-Sea Nodule Mining


On August 1, 2017, a number of JPI Oceans member countries will launch a joint call for preproposals to study the environmental impacts and risks associated with seabed mining. This call is being conducted as a follow-up of the Joint Action on "Ecological aspects of deep-sea mining" under the framework of JPI Oceans. It calls for cruise proposals for the RV SONNE in early 2019 in the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone (CCZ), subequatorial eastern Pacific.

POGO-SCOR Visiting Fellowships

The Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans and Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (POGO) is currently promoting its Visiting Fellowship Programme for 2017. A joint programme between POGO and the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR), the programme is designed to support training and capacity building leading towards a global observation scheme for the oceans. A success for over 15 years, the programme has awarded over 160 fellowships since 2001.

AQUAEXCEL2020 Fourth Call for Access Now Open

On a regular basis, the AQUAEXCEL2020 project will invite proposals from European research groups for scientific research that utilises the facilities of any of the participating aquaculture research infrastructures. The AQUAEXCEL2020 project unites major aquaculture experimental facilities with capacity to undertake experimental trials on a selection of commercially important fish aquaculture species and system types.

ERC Consolidator Grant 2017 Call

ERC Starting and Consolidator Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators (PIs) at the career stage at which they are starting or consolidating their own independent research team or programme. Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal. ERC grants are open to researchers of any nationality who intend to conduct their research activity in any EU Member State or Associated Country.

EASME/EMFF/2016/031 International oceans governance — scientific support

This Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) /European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) call for tender is to enter into a service contract for a study to assist the European Commission to play a role in international ocean governance in support of development policy. The study will define capacity development projects which the EU can implement in selected partner countries under the sustainable fisheries partnership agreements (SFPA) in the Central Eastern Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

EASME/EMFF/2016/032 Framework contract for the provision of scientific advice for the Mediterranean and the Black Seas
