The research group for Marine Isotope Geochemistry / Central Marine-Chemical Analytics facility at the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg is seeking a postdoctoral scientist and PhD candidate to join its team.

PhD position

The PhD student will work on a project in the South Pacific to reconstruct the deep circulation over past climatic cycles using radiogenic isotopes. Candidates must have a university degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in geosciences or chemistry. Explicitly desirable is experience in inorganic-geochemical sample processing and analysis and a background in paleoceanography.

Deadline: 10 December 2019

Postdoctoral position

The successful applicant will strengthen the research of the institute in the field of inorganic marine geochemistry using novel techniques and research approaches. Candidates must have a university degree and a doctoral degree in marine geosciences or inorganic chemistry as well as scientific experience in marine research and the geochemistry of trace elements in the marine environment. Expertise in the mass-spectrometric analysis of trace elements in seawater and marine sediments is expected.
