Deadline: July 15, 2018

A total of three positions are available through the Research Institute for Development (IRD), France. The three positions will cover the fields of marine biogeochemistry, population and ecosystem modeling. Two positions will be located in Paris, at the Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace and one in Sète in the MARine Biodiversity, Exploitation and Conservation (MARBEC) laboratory.

The first position will look at explicit representation of gelatinous zooplankton in the trait-based APECOSM model. The work will be carried out at the Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace (Paris), but will require frequent visits / long stay in Sète within the MARine Biodiversity, Exploitation and Conservation (MARBEC) laboratory (Sète) where the APECOSM model is developed.

The second position will consist in improving the representation of the bacterial loop in the PISCES biogeochemical model. The work will be carried out at the Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace in Paris.

The third position will explicit tropical (skipjack, yellowfin, bigeye) and temperate (albacore, bluefin) tuna populations in the ecosystem model APECOSM and assess the model’s predictions against available data. The work will be carried out at the MARine Biodiversity, Exploitation and Conservation (MARBEC) laboratory in Sète with collaborations with scientists in the Mediterranean Institute of Oceanography (MIO) in Marseille.
