The University of Gothenburg (Sweden) is seeking candidates for one PhD position and two postdoctoral positions. All three positions have an approximate start date of 15 May 2019. Successful candidates must be available for frequent international travel, and are expected to have had prior international living experience. Candidates are also expected to have a high level of proficiency in English, but the positions are open to all international applicants.

PhD position (4 years) - microbiology / aquaculture

The successful candidate for this position will have a background in marine physiology and/ or relevant aquaculture experience with fish or invertebrates.

Postdoctoral position (2 years) - microbiology / molecular biology / analytical chemistry / aquaculture

The successful candidate will have a background in microbiology and molecular biology, preferably with relevant aquaculture experience with either fish or invertebrates. The role will involve work on bacterial relationships in biofloc/biofilms and pathogens within Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). We are seeking a candidate at the postdoctoral level or beyond with a strong background in microbiology, analytical chemistry or bioengineering.

Postdoctoral position (2 years) - microbiology / molecular biology / bioengineering

The successful candidate will be postdoctoral level or beyond with a strong background in microbiology, analytical chemistry or bioengineering for a project examining recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), anaerobic digesters and hydroponics units with the goal of better understanding conditions that will maximize beneficial transfers of microbes and their products among components of decoupled aquaponics systems.
