The Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) seeks to foster a diverse, international scientific community that creates, integrates and communicates knowledge across the full spectrum of aquatic sciences, advances public awareness and education about aquatic resources and research, and promotes scientific stewardship of aquatic resources for the public interest.
ASLO has announced their 2019 Aquatic Sciences Meeting will be titled "Planet Water: Challenges and Successes". There will be a wide range of topics covered over the week-long meeting, many of them focusing on the role of science at the center of all economic, societal and environmental recovery and development efforts, studies on renewable energy, environmental sustainability, clean water, and rebuilding and maintaining terrestrial ecosystems.
Educational activities and volunteer opportunities will be offered that focus on environmental and ecosystem restoration following last year’s devastation to the island due to Hurricane Maria. These activities are planned on the Saturday prior to and the Saturday following the meeting. For more information on these, please visit https://aslo.org/sanjuan2019/outreach.
