The Zoological Station Anton Dohrn will host a workshop, co-organized with the OECD, entitled "Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean Economy". The OCSE-SZN workshop will analyze how scientific progress and innovation are contributing to the development of marine and maritime activities in order to define the best strategies for protection and recovery of marine ecosystems. The workshop will be attended by about 50 international experts from the most renowned research centers, the private sector and intergovernmental organizations. In the two days, four crucial themes will be discussed about the future of the oceans and seas:
• The environmentally sustainable management of marine industry and marine infrastructure;
• Decommissioning of marine platforms;
• The fundamental role of science and technology in planning and managing activities in coastal and marine areas;
• Innovation as a key element to frame the potential of the emerging marine ecosystem recovery industry.
The event will provide participants with an opportunity to exchange experiences at national and international level and is part of the OECD research activities on the oceans and innovation. For more information, please contact the event organiser.
