Eurofleets+ is a unique consortium of research vessels, equipment and scientists supported by 42 marine institutes, universities, foundations and SMEs from 24 countries around the North Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea that provide access to training and research opportunities.
The consortium is currently offering a course on the use of bio-optical parameters for studying marine biogeochemical processes. The training will begin in Gdansk, Poland, but will chiefly take place aboard the R/V Oceania on a cruise from Gdansk to Trømso, Norway. The course is composed of a combination of lectures, laboratory work and practical sampling/measurements, and interpretation of optical and bio-geochemical data. The general objective is to provide theoretical background and practical experience in conducting instrumental measurements of inherent and apparent optical properties in marine waters and collecting water samples for determination of concentrations of optically significant sea water constituent.
