The Euromarine Summer School “Emerging topics in coastal marine ecosystems (eTOPs) will be held in Cadiz, Spain from the 4th-13th July.
The eTOPs Summer School aims at interdisciplinary training of PhD students working in coastal marine ecosystems. There will be a combination of practical laboratory sessions and field trips. The summer school is coordinated by Euromarine Network researchers from Universidad de Cadiz (UCA, Spain), Centro de Ciencias do Mar (CCMAR, Portugal), and Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (SZN, Italy).
This summer school will cover a variety of training topics in the study of coastal marine ecosystems. Some of the topics include:
- climate change, i.e. marine heatwaves and ocean acidification global anthropogenic impacts, i.e. microplastics and emerging pollutants,
- biological risks, i.e. invasive species. It will also address
- climate change mitigation strategies, i.e. blue carbon, technology development, i.e. unmanned vehicles, and
- management and conservation strategies for marine protected areas.
There will be space for 25 in-person attendees and 25 remote. Priority will be given to those from the EuroMarine network.
