Deadline for applications: 25 April 2022.
Located in Brest, France, Ifremer are seeking a motivated candidate with strong interest for marine ecology and/or fisheries science. Candidates must have a quantitative ecology academic background, and already developed statistical and modelling skills.
The PhD candidate will map the prey field of dolphins based on a set of spatial variables: abundance, size, energy, patchiness and depth distribution of small pelagic fish. Databases of scientific surveys, on fish energy density and on dolphin’s distribution and diet will be made available. The multicriteria prey field will be made dynamic in time and space, using a bioenergetics individual-based model that solves the population dynamics and can project the seasonal and pluriannual variability of the energy available for dolphins.
