The Scottish Association for Marine Sciences (SAMS) is delighted to announce that registration is open for the 2024 EU INSPIRE Restorative Aquaculture course. This course is delivered from the EIT Food Education and INSPIRE entrepreneurship network, the Polish Academy of Sciences, and The Seaweed Academy at the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS).

The course, which is delivered in-person and online in September/October 2024, is ideally suited to those interested in setting up a business in the Seaweed, Microalgae and Aquaculture sector. Further details about the course and how to apply can be found in the below link.

The 2024 EU INSPIRE Restorative Aquaculture course will introduce participants to the Aquaculture sector in Europe with a focus on seaweed, microalgae, finfish and shellfish culturing methods and algae biotechnology, and the challenges and opportunities which exist.

The programme also provides comprehensive training in business creation and provides an opportunity for participants to work in teams to generate new ideas in responding to current and future challenges in the aquaculture sector. Participants will learn how to translate these ideas into feasible business propositions.

Participants will receive live sessions on Zoom and 5 days in-person at SAMS, Oban, Scotland including a visit to the SAMS Seaweed Nursery and Farm and complemented online learning resources. Places are limited to 25 people so please book early to secure your place.

Please spread the work about this exciting course which is now into its fifth year (held at SAMS for the first time in November 2024, having re-introduced the in-person element). SAMS will be welcoming world renowned experts in aquaculture and leaders of the most innovative startups working in this sector. As well as increasing participant knowledge and understanding of the sector, it will be the ideal environment for inspiring tomorrow’s entrepreneurs as they build innovative solutions and feasible business propositions aimed at revolutionizing aquaculture production in Europe.

The deadline for full applications and payments is: 17:00 (5pm) CET 23rd August 2024.
