The Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) is a cross-cutting scientific research center on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers, also forming part of the Mediterranean Operational Network for the Global Ocean Observing System (MONGOOS).
The CMCC Institute for Earth System Predictions is looking for a leader who will guide its Global Coastal Ocean Division to advance the R&D activities on coastal ocean forecasting, relocatable modeling, and climate change adaptation.
The Global Coastal Ocean Division contributes to significant initiatives such as the European Digital Twin of the Ocean and the GlobalCoast initiative of the GOOS UN Ocean Decade programme CoastPredict. The Division Director will be responsible for the coordination and oversight of all the existing and future developments of Global Coastal Ocean modeling systems and applications.
ROLE
The Director reports to the Institute Director and is responsible for overseeing all research activities within the Foundation's division. According to the Institute's Plans, the Director will oversee the Division's Strategic Plan and the Three-Year Budget for the Division's scientific activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development of a fundraising agenda in line with the objectives of the division and with the strategy of the Institute;
- Implementation and monitoring of research projects, identifying the priorities concerning the mandate of the division;
- Coordination with the other Division Directors in the elaboration and submission of funding proposal;
- Planning management of resources and management of the budget allocated to the division, making efficient use of funding funds; Management of human resources, with a view to guidance and mentoring, facilitating involvement, motivation, satisfaction and growth;
- Collaboration with the other Division Directors to ensure disciplinary integration;
- Monitoring of the progress of projects in compliance with deadlines;
- Networking development in collaboration with the Institute Director;
- Ensure contacts with communication office to facilitate communication towards research community and society at large;
- Support the Institute Director in the creation of reports and KPIs for the evaluation of the results achieved.
