The International Temperate Reefs Symposium (ITRS) will be held in Brest, France, from 1st to 4th July 2025. This longstanding event, now in its 30th year, will bring together over 300 researchers from around the world to discuss the ecological importance and challenges of temperate reef systems.

Temperate reefs are vital marine habitats that support diverse plant and animal communities, particularly those shaped by macroalgae, kelp, and biogenic reef builders like foundation species and man-made artificial reefs. The symposium will focus on pressing questions related to the biodiversity and functioning of reef systems, monitoring, managing, and restoring reef habitats, and the environmental and climate challenges affecting these ecosystems.

The ITRS provides a unique platform for interdisciplinary discussions on temperate reefs, fostering global collaboration to enhance reef conservation and restoration efforts.

Registration and abstract submission for the symposium are now open.
