OYSTER (Orienting young scientists of EuroMarine) is looking for enthusiastic, engaged and creative early-career scientists who are willing to play an important role in advocating EuroMarine and promoting the role and relevance of marine science and the ocean in general. OYSTER in particular seeks individuals within the field of marine social science to join the group. Eligible candidates are PhD students or post-doctoral researchers within 5 years after the completion of PhD or technicians/research assistants within 7 years after the completion of MSc, and who are based at EuroMarine Member Organisations or Invited Member Organisations (https://euromarinenetwork.eu/members-directory/?page=1).

Individuals should have experience in marine-based research and be willing to use their creativity, imagination, communication and interpersonal skills to help promote marine science and EuroMarine activities and are expected to have initiative to develop tasks withing the group. Individuals will be integrated in a multicultural team where effective communication and respect is important. Among the OYSTER activities we pursue the production of publications related to ECR, for which interdisciplinary and social scientist applications will be encouraged in this call. To enable a maximum representation of EuroMarine members, OYSTER would particularly like to invite applications from EuroMarine institutions which do not yet have an early-career researcher in the OYSTER network so far. Check the list of EM Institutions that have not an OYSTER member in the annex to this Call.

Additionally, OYSTER will encourage the applications from Countries that there are no members from. At the moment of this Call: Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, UK. The position will commence in January 2024 and commitment for one-year is required. This timeframe will allow members to follow projects from the start till the end.
