EuroMarine is pleased to share early information about its upcoming 2025 calls for funding. These opportunities aim to support collaborative research, training, and mobility among marine scientists across the EuroMarine network. Full details will be published soon—this summary is intended to help researchers begin preparing proposals and building partnerships.
Please check the provisional 2025 membership list to confirm eligibility, and contact your organisation’s EuroMarine representative for confirmation. Regular updates will be available on the EuroMarine website, and you are encouraged to subscribe to our newsletter for the latest information.

Call for proposals of Foresight Workshops - Maximum Funding: €7,000
EuroMarine estimates to fund 4 proposals.
Eligibility Criteria:
- FWs proposals must have a clear foresight dimension and aim for a scientific publication as the final outcome.
- Proposals must involve at least three Member Organisations of EuroMarine from at least two different countries.
- Activities should be carried out within 2026. EuroMarine will accept hybrid or online events, and the budget should reflect the chosen format.

EuroMarine School on Ocean Transformation - Maximum Funding: €15,000
EuroMarine will fund 1 proposal.
EuroMarine will fund the organisation of a School on Ocean Transformation. Proposals are expected to contribute directly to the objectives of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development’s “the science we need for the ocean we want” program and the EU Mission “Restore our Oceans & Water”. In particular, the proposed topics should cover solution-oriented training and research activities addressing one or more of the global ocean challenges. Proposals must involve at least five Full Member Organisations of EuroMarine, from at least three different countries. The EuroMarine School should be held in 2026.

EuroMarine Early Career Researchers Cooperation Project - Maximum Funding: €7,000 (OYSTER)
OYSTER estimates to fund 2 proposals.
Recognising the significance of capacity building for young scientists, OYSTER will open this call for proposals for Early Career Researchers from EuroMarine Member Organisations to undertake an original and collaborative research project.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The project must be led by 2-3 Early Career Researchers from at least two different EuroMarine Organisations from two different countries.
- Project should be carried out in 2026.

Individual Fellowships Programme - Maximum Funding: €500 (OYSTER)
EuroMarine estimates to fund 25 grants.
In 2025, EuroMarine will again award individual fellowships to facilitate the participation of EuroMarine PhD students and scholars in their first post-doctoral position to attend an advanced course of their preference. For this year’s call, eligible courses include both training courses and workshops (including EuroMarine foresight workshops), as well as participating in field work and sampling campaigns. Applicants are required to describe how their selected course, workshop or field campaign will contribute to their career and research development.
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be PhD students and scholars in their first post-doctorate position in a

Call for applications for “Support for parental care for travelling”- Maximum Funding: €200
EuroMarine estimates to fund 10 grants.
EuroMarine recognises the importance of supporting parents in their professional development while ensuring their family responsibilities are accommodated. To facilitate this, EuroMarine is launching a call for applications for travel grants aimed specifically at parents who wish to participate in person at EuroMarine activities and need to travel with their children.
Eligibility criteria:
- To be eligible the children must be under the age of 2.
- Applicants should have secured a position for in-person attendance at an event funded or organised by EuroMarine (such as Foresight Workshops, Open Science Day, etc.).
- Funds will be granted on a first come first served basis.
