The Ocean Literacy Research Community (OLRC) have created a survey to analyse what messaging works best, its efficacy, and to define the main drivers and motivations to carry out climate-related ocean actions.

The aim is to achieve a better (and general) understanding of effective climate change messaging and to share this learning with the OLRC, whose primary mission is to establish a coordinated, collaborative and inclusive Ocean Literacy research community for the UN Decade; to collaborate on and share research to ensure that Ocean Literacy initiatives strengthen society's relationship with the ocean in meaningful and measurable ways.

The information will be anonymised, aggregated, summarised and incorporated into potential dissemination materials such as website and social media content, presentation slides, grey papers and peer-reviewed articles. Participation involves completing a 10 minute voluntary survey, open to any global citizen of 18 years of age or older. Everyone who fills out this survey will be placed in a draw to win 1 of 3 swag prize packages:

  • A hoodie imprinted with a beautiful artwork by renowned Stz’uminus artist Luke Marston;
  • An awesome Ocean Week Canada/Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition swag item;
  • The e-book of a crossover novel that inspires climate action through a fantastic story: Lorac, by marine scientist and writer Neus Figueras.

Please find the link to the survey below.
